Two three-hour sessions shape nursery life at Greenside, with a separate decision about the lunchtime gap for children attending both. This is the school's own nursery in Droylsden, serving three- and four-year-olds within its Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). Morning and afternoon groups are known as NAM and NPM.
Ofsted graded the school's early years provision Good at its January 2023 inspection. That judgement covers early years within the school; it is not a separate nursery rating.
Language gives the clearest picture of learning here. In January 2023, early years children responded eagerly to challenges, while staff used learning opportunities to introduce new vocabulary. An Arctic topic prompted children to explain penguin insulation using the word blubber. The useful detail is the connection between a topic and the words children learn to express it: conversation becomes part of learning, rather than an activity kept apart.
Book borrowing extends that work beyond the classroom. Early years children could take books from the home library to enjoy with family and friends. For parents, this creates a concrete link between learning at school and reading together at home.
The nursery sits within the EYFS, the school's early years stage. Its session structure gives families a choice between a morning or afternoon pattern, with eligible children able to attend both when a 30-hour place is available. The lunchtime interval needs its own arrangement.
Teaching assistants support classes, and the school's inclusion team includes a SEND coordinator, a deputy SEND coordinator, a pupil and parent support advisor and a play therapist. These roles provide distinct routes for discussing learning needs and family concerns.
For children needing additional help, the school's SEN support process uses Assess, Plan, Do and Review. Parents participate in 4+1 meetings to discuss needs, agree targets and review support. Help may involve individual work, a small group or classroom resources such as visual prompts. Provision depends on the child, so the relevant question is how that process will support their particular needs.
Food has a practical consequence for children staying across both sessions: optional lunchtime supervision requires a packed lunch. Families choosing the alternative collect their child after the morning session and bring them back for the afternoon.
Attending Greenside's nursery does not guarantee a Reception place. Families must make a separate Reception application through the normal admissions route by the applicable deadline. Treat that application as a separate task when planning the next stage, even if your child already attends nursery.
Morning sessions run from 08:30 to 11:30, and afternoons from 12:15 to 15:15, Monday to Friday. The 15-hour pattern uses either session across five days; the 30-hour pattern combines both. Greenside prioritises the universal entitlement and offers 30-hour places to eligible families when space allows. Confirm the current allocation conditions with the school before relying on a 30-hour place. Lunchtime falls outside the funded provision. Contact the school for current supervision charges.

The school car park is unavailable unless you have a blue badge, so driving families need to plan parking elsewhere and keep neighbouring driveways clear. If collection will be late, telephone the school office.
