Early reading, Jigsaw and a choice of three session patterns give this nursery its shape. Children can join from two years old at the school's South Site in Galley Hill, placing their first school experiences within a Church of England primary school.
The school welcomes families of any faith and families with none. Its Christian values include love, wisdom, responsibility, kindness and thankfulness. Ofsted judged the school's early years provision Good at the inspection on 27 and 28 February 2024; this is an early years judgement within the school inspection.
A morning lasts from 8.30am to 11.30am, while afternoons run from 12.10pm to 3.10pm. The full day starts at 8.30am and finishes at 3.10pm. These give families a choice between a shorter session and a day spanning both parts of the timetable.
Early reading teaching was effective in Nursery in February 2024. Mathematics uses a mastery approach beginning in the early years: the school aims for children to understand mathematical ideas deeply before building on them. Teaching draws on Whiterose Maths Hub resources and guidance from NCETM.
Jigsaw provides the programme for personal, social and health education, beginning in Nursery. Weekly lessons give children opportunities to express opinions and hear other people's ideas. That places learning about themselves and others alongside reading and mathematics.
Identifying additional needs starts in Nursery. In February 2024, staff recognised special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) accurately, with training and support helping them provide appropriate assistance. For parents concerned about their child's development, this makes early identification a concrete part of the provision.
Class teachers work with the school's SEND co-ordinator on recognising needs, arranging support and reviewing it. Parents are involved throughout the process. Where SEN support is agreed, a plan is developed and reviewed with the family; outside specialist advice will be sought if progress remains below expectations despite appropriate plans and interventions. Families can contact the SEND co-ordinator through the school office.
Nursery attendance does not guarantee a Reception place and confers no priority under the school's admission criteria. Families must make a separate Reception application through the normal council admissions process by the national deadline. Nursery registration does not replace that application.
The Reception route uses the Common Application Form through Milton Keynes City Council's school admissions portal. Applications for starting school are handled by the council rather than submitted to the school. Keep nursery arrangements and the Reception application as two separate tasks when planning your child's next step.
Nursery registration uses a downloadable registration form. To arrange a visit or make an enquiry, contact the South Site office on 01908 562955.
