Nursery at Ghost Hill Infant and Nursery School

Nocturnal animals, sensory play and a sports day with a family picnic give Ghost Hill’s nursery its own character within the infant school. This is provision with examples of both classroom learning and shared family activities, rather than a day defined solely by preparation for school. The school is in Eastfield, Taverham, Norwich.
Ladybird is the nursery class name for September 2026. The early years provision received an Outstanding judgement at Ofsted’s inspection on 5 and 6 December 2023. That judgement covers the school’s early years provision; it is not a separate nursery inspection rating.
Learning begins with ideas children can explain. In December 2023, nursery children could describe nocturnal animals and name examples. That is a useful glimpse of the nursery curriculum in action: children were connecting a concept with particular animals, giving them something concrete to talk about rather than simply repeating a new word.
Sensory activity adds another dimension. Nursery children took part in a Hartbeeps session in May 2026, bringing a named sensory experience into their learning. This sits alongside the animal knowledge seen in December 2023 and shows two different kinds of activity: exploring through the senses and explaining an idea aloud.
Movement also has a place. In June 2026, families joined the nursery’s sports day and the picnic that followed. Older pupil sports leaders helped organise the activities, showed children what to do and assisted them. For nursery children, demonstrations made the activities easier to understand; for parents, the event provided a chance to take part in nursery life.
The school’s outdoor area has large trees that provided shade for school yoga activities in June 2026. This is a concrete feature of the wider school environment, with space used for movement outdoors.
Stay and Play sessions brought nursery children and their families together in July 2026. Children explored their new learning spaces and began getting to know classmates. Familiarity is the practical benefit: families could share that first exploration, while children had an opportunity to meet others before the next stage began.
Parent administration uses the My Child at School app. Families can check their contact information and parental consents there, and are asked to enable push notifications. Keeping those details current supports communication between home and school. Lunch bookings and changes require 24 hours’ notice, so meal arrangements need advance planning.
Attending Ghost Hill’s nursery does not guarantee a Reception place. Families must apply separately through the normal Reception admissions process. Treat that application as a distinct step when planning your child’s move into school.
The July 2026 Stay and Play sessions included both nursery and Reception children with their families. Exploring new learning environments supports familiarity, but participation in transition activities is separate from the allocation of a Reception place.

School breakfast and after-school care are booked through the MYCAS app, with bookings and amendments required 24 hours ahead. These school services should be considered separately from the nursery day when planning family arrangements. Contact the school for current charges.
