Three-hour sessions give Rainbow, Edgewood’s nursery class, a distinct rhythm within the primary school. Morning and afternoon attendance each have their own start and finish, making those collection times central to deciding whether the nursery fits family life.
Rainbow is part of Edgewood Primary and Nursery School on Edgewood Drive in Hucknall. Nursery families use the Nursery Gate, and parents accompany their children through it for drop-off. That gives families a specific entrance to use rather than leaving them to work out the arrangements for older children.
The morning session runs from 8:45am to 11:45am; afternoon attendance runs from 12:25pm to 3:25pm. These are separate three-hour blocks. For parents comparing a morning with an afternoon, the relevant difference is where that block sits in the family’s day, including the journey home and any other childcare arrangements.
The Foundation Stage team includes teachers and teaching assistants.
For families with children who have special educational needs or disabilities (SEND), the Nottinghamshire SEND Local Offer brings together education, social care and health information. Parents can request a leaflet from their child’s teacher. It provides a practical starting point for understanding local advice and services alongside conversations about their child.
Reception admission. Attending Edgewood’s nursery does not guarantee a place in its Reception class. Families must make a separate Reception application through the normal admissions route by the applicable deadline. Treat that application as a separate task, even while your child is attending Rainbow.

Use the Nursery Gate for Rainbow. If a child needs early collection for an appointment, notify the office as soon as possible and bring the appointment card or letter. This gives staff advance notice and allows the reason for collection to be recorded correctly.
