Nursery at Hazelwood School

The Orchard, The Meadow and The Forest give Hazelwood’s nursery an identity of its own: three age groups spanning babies through to children preparing for school. The nursery welcomes children aged 9 months to 4 years on Bluehouse Lane in Oxted, separately from the main school site. For families, that distinction matters when planning the daily journey.
The Orchard covers ages 0–2, The Meadow 2–3 and The Forest 3–4. Session choices extend from a morning to a longer day, while full-time children can attend beyond school terms. This is provision with both early learning and working-family routines to accommodate.
Swimming lessons and forest school are part of the nursery provision covered by the additional services charge. Visiting specialists also deliver extra-curricular activities. These give families specific activities to discuss when choosing their child’s attendance pattern.
Lunch and snacks form part of the provision covered by the nursery’s additional services charge. Families should discuss their child’s food and care requirements with the Nursery Office before choosing a session pattern.
Nursery attendance does not guarantee a Reception place. Contact Hazelwood’s admissions team to confirm the Reception process for existing nursery children. Offers depend on availability and the school’s entry procedures. Familiarity with the nursery should never be treated as an offer of a school place.
For Reception entrants, a meeting with their teacher and further settling sessions take place before starting. These help children become familiar with their next setting; they are preparation for the change, rather than an admissions advantage.
Morning attendance runs from 08:45 to 13:00. Longer options finish at 15:30 or 17:00, also starting at 08:45. At least three sessions each week are required, and the 08:45–17:00 day counts as two sessions. Nursery charges depend on age and are paid by session; direct debit can be monthly or termly according to the contract.
Eligible children can use 15 funded hours each week during term time. An additional services charge covers items including snacks, lunch, consumables, swimming and forest school, as well as staffing and visiting activity specialists. Ask the school for current charges before choosing a pattern.
Full-time children can attend throughout the year apart from the Christmas closure and specified inset days. For enquiries, select Nursery Admissions on the contact form. Private nursery tours can also be arranged through that team, giving families a direct route to discussing a place.
