Mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086 and long celebrated for its pair of ninth-century Saxon crosses that still anchor the market square, Sandbach is a market town in Cheshire East serving the four settlements of Sandbach, Elworth, Ettiley Heath and Wheelock.
