Babies, toddlers and pre-school children give this school nursery a broader character than a short session before starting school. Full days and half days sit alongside a choice of term-time attendance or care across the year. That makes the attendance pattern a substantial part of the decision for families.
The nursery sits at The Langley Heritage Primary in Langley. In April 2025, its on-site provision catered for up to 60 children aged three and four. The team now includes leaders for the toddler and pre-school rooms, alongside an Early Years Education Lead and nursery practitioners.
Play is the starting point for learning. Within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), the nursery develops early ideas in science, communication, literacy and maths through exploration. Children investigate, pose questions and collaborate. The nursery aims to build independence and confidence through that practical approach, giving children an active part in their learning.
Read Write Inc. begins in Nursery, providing a named approach to early phonics. Alongside this, the pre-school room includes carpet time, individual work and small-group activities: different ways for children to participate rather than one format throughout a session.
Little City brought imaginative play into nursery learning in January 2026. Children explored occupations through play, with language and social skills as the focus. It is a concrete example of how pretending can become a learning activity, connecting children's ideas about work with opportunities to communicate.
Room leadership gives the care team a clear structure. The Deputy Nursery Manager also holds the SENCo role, with training in safeguarding and special educational needs coordination. The pre-school Room Leader holds an early years diploma and paediatric first-aid training. Practitioners describe helping nervous or shy children settle and offering comfort when children need reassurance.
Food and everyday care supplies depend on the attendance arrangement. Full fee-paying sessions include refreshments, tea, lunch, a morning snack and breakfast, together with wipes, nappies and creams, including sun cream. For term-time-only places, food, nappies, wipes and sun cream are excluded; families can supply these themselves or pay an additional charge. This distinction matters when comparing the practical work involved at home.
Nursery attendance does not guarantee a Reception place. Families must make a separate Reception application through the normal admissions route.
Applications go online through Slough Borough Council. For the past 2026 entry cycle, the deadline was 15 January 2026. Treat nursery attendance and the later school application as separate decisions, with their own arrangements and timing.
Monday to Friday opening runs from 8am to 6pm. Full-day sessions cover those hours; morning half days run from 8am to 1pm and afternoon half days from 1pm to 6pm. A 7:30am start can be requested. Families can choose 38-week term-time attendance or a 50-week arrangement; bank holidays and two weeks around Christmas and New Year are closures.
Funding of 15 or 30 hours is accepted subject to eligibility, with a valid code required and eligibility reconfirmed regularly. Hours can be used across 38 term-time weeks or stretched across 50 weeks. Tax-Free Childcare and major childcare vouchers are also accepted. Ask the school for current charges for the chosen attendance pattern.
