Daily songs, stories and nursery rhymes give Wolf Fields’ nursery a clear focus: helping young children find their voice. The provision caters for children aged three to four within Wolf Fields Primary School in Norwood Green, Southall. Play and exploration sit alongside conversations with adults, so communication develops through ordinary activities as well as shared reading.
Ofsted’s April 2026 judgement for the school’s early years was Expected standard. This covers early years within the school, rather than a separately inspected nursery.
Language shapes the learning. Adults introduce vocabulary through conversations and encourage children to try those words during play. For parents, this means speaking and listening are part of the activity itself: children have opportunities to express ideas while they explore. Rhymes, songs and stories feature daily from the nursery year, giving children repeated encounters with spoken language and books.
The early years foundation stage, or EYFS, combines these foundations for reading, writing and mathematics with learning to participate alongside other children. Children sustain their attention and persist with activities. Sharing and taking turns matter too. These habits help them join in with learning and manage the social demands of a group.
The nursery’s approach centres on exploration, play and adult interaction. Its September 2026 offer also emphasises individual attention and a sense of belonging, connecting learning with children feeling secure enough to participate.
Personal, social and emotional development receives deliberate attention in early years. Staff build relationships with parents and carers to support children’s confidence, while children practise cooperating with one another. Settling is part of the nursery’s stated focus on wellbeing: feeling safe and belonging are treated as preparation for learning.
Extra help is available within early years for children who need support with the curriculum. In April 2026, this support was skilled and helped children keep pace with their learning. Families with special educational needs or disabilities can contact the school’s SENCo at senco@wolffields.ealing.sch.uk, providing a direct route for discussing their child’s needs.
Lunch and care across the midday period are included free in the nursery’s 15-hour and 30-hour provision. That makes the lunchtime arrangement a useful practical part of the offer for families using it.
A nursery place does not guarantee admission to Wolf Fields’ Reception. Families must make a separate application through the Ealing admissions procedure.
For the September 2026 intake, applications went through eAdmissions to the council where the family lived, with a deadline of 15 January 2026. That deadline has passed; it belongs to that intake. Preparation for the next stage is an aim of the nursery provision, but it must be kept separate from securing a school place.
Both 15-hour and 30-hour provision are offered. Working parents may qualify for the funded 30-hour entitlement, with eligibility checked through Childcare Choices. Nursery runs during term time and follows the school calendar, so families need childcare arrangements for school holidays.
Applications can be picked up at the school office or requested by email and completed electronically. Contact admin@wolffields.ealing.sch.uk or telephone 0208 571 7970. Entry is possible in the term after a child’s third birthday, subject to space.
The EYFS uniform uses black jogging bottoms, with a white shirt or polo shirt and a red cardigan, jumper or sweatshirt. Existing uniform, including items with a logo, can still be used. When buying new uniform, choose items without a logo. The provisional 2026–27 calendar includes a fortnight’s autumn half-term, from 19 to 30 October 2026, a substantial break to plan around.
