Belong. Believe. Become. gives Mandale Mill's nursery its wider school context: the school describes belonging and belief in oneself and others as steps towards personal development. This is school-attached provision on Thorntree Road in Thornaby, with nursery included in the school's class structure. For families, the distinction matters: nursery has its own curriculum planning and session times within the primary school.
Morning and afternoon sessions give the day two distinct shapes. The morning runs from 8:30am to 11:30am; the afternoon starts at 12:15pm and finishes at 3:10pm. Those separate windows matter when fitting nursery around work or other children's routines.
Nursery planning is organised into autumn, spring and summer blocks. Mandale Minis and Nursery also have Cycle A and B long-term plans.
Across the school, curriculum aims include curiosity, independence and confidence. Life skills, safety, healthy lifestyles and eco-awareness are named curriculum threads. These show the wider priorities surrounding nursery learning: the school's ambition extends beyond academic knowledge to children's everyday development.
Inclusion is a school value, and the school aims to adapt its curriculum to learners' needs. A Special Educational Needs and Disability Co-ordinator provides a school-level point of responsibility. The areas recognised include communication, learning, sensory or physical needs, and social, emotional and mental health difficulties. This gives families a clear organisational context for discussing support.
The Lingfield Trust SEND Expert Panel adds access to colleagues' expertise, shared resources and training. Its practical role is to help school staff draw on specialist knowledge across the Trust, rather than relying solely on expertise within one school.
Attending Mandale Mill's nursery does not guarantee a place in its Reception class. Families must make a separate Reception application through the normal admissions route and meet the applicable deadline.
Treat choosing nursery and securing Reception as separate decisions. Familiarity with the school should not be mistaken for an entitlement to continue there.

Wraparound care. The school does not currently run breakfast or afterschool clubs. Families needing care beyond nursery sessions should account for that when planning their day.
School-wide uniform consists of a navy jumper, a white shirt, blouse or polo, grey or black bottoms and a school bookbag. Clothing should be labelled, and footwear must be safe and sensible. A uniform pantry holds pre-loved items in all sizes, accessible through office staff or Parent Support Advisors. Uniform can also come from supermarkets or general high street shops, giving families flexibility over where they buy school clothing.
The morning session runs from 8:30am to 11:30am. The afternoon session runs from 12:15pm to 3:10pm.
