Nursery at Fairhaven Primary School

Two three-hour sessions give Fairhaven's nursery its daily shape, with wraparound care extending the options for families who need a longer day. This is Fairhaven Primary School's provision for three- and four-year-olds in Wordsley, with both indoor and outdoor facilities.
Leadership sits within the school's early years team: there is a Nursery Lead, while the Head Teacher also holds the Early Years Lead role. Fairhaven Primary School's overall Ofsted judgement is Requires Improvement. That is a school judgement, not a separate nursery rating.
Morning nursery runs from 08:40 to 11:40; the afternoon session follows from 12:20 to 15:20. Each gives families a defined start and finish, while children attending both sessions have a lunchtime interval between them.
The nursery has both indoor and outdoor facilities for learning. For families choosing between a shorter session and a longer day, the practical distinction is how the sessions connect: lunchtime supervision is a separately charged service, and parents can instead take their child home between sessions.
Lunch comes with a choice. Children staying for lunchtime care can bring food from home or have a school meal prepared by the in-house caterers for an additional charge. The lunchtime team supervises them throughout this period. Families can therefore choose both the meal arrangement and whether their child stays on site between sessions.
Fairhaven After School Buddies Care Club (FAB) includes a snack and drink. Within the school team, the SENDCo also holds an Assistant Head Teacher role; parents can contact the SENDCo on 01384 958292. This gives families a direct contact for discussing special educational needs and disabilities.
Separate application. A nursery place does not guarantee entry to Fairhaven's Reception class. Families must apply again through the normal local authority admissions process and meet its deadline. Dudley Council administers Reception places, so nursery enrolment and the later school application are separate decisions.
Choosing the nursery should therefore rest on its sessions, care arrangements and curriculum, rather than an assumption that a school place is secured. Keep the Reception application as a separate step in your family's planning.
Funded provision covers 15 hours from the term following a child's third birthday, with a 30-hour term-time entitlement for eligible working families. Within that larger entitlement, Fairhaven may accommodate attendance above 15 hours but below 30. Families without the 30-hour entitlement can purchase extra hours when places allow.
Charged extras. Lunchtime care falls outside the 30-hour offer, and a school lunch carries an additional charge. Breakfast Club and FAB are also charged services, booked through ParentPay. Wraparound care spans 07:45 to 17:45; contact the school for current charges before deciding how much care to book.
Nursery applications go directly to the school through an application form, and a waiting list operates. Requests for the full entitlement receive priority, followed by requests for 15 hours only. To arrange a visit, telephone 01384 958292; nursery enquiries can also go to Fairhavennursery@stbartsmat.co.uk.
