Peeling fruit, pouring a drink and getting dressed for outdoor play: independence starts with small, useful tasks at Trinity Preschool. This is Holy Trinity CofE Primary School’s nursery provision in Stratford-upon-Avon, with play and practical exploration shaping children’s learning.
Ofsted judged the school’s early years provision to be Strong standard in March 2026. That judgement covers early years across the school, rather than giving the preschool a separate nursery rating. The preschool team comprises a manager and three practitioners; the manager also holds responsibility for early years leadership and designated safeguarding.
Stories, singing and conversations about books help children develop language. Counting games and patterns introduce mathematical ideas, while art, music and pretend play give children ways to communicate feelings and try out ideas. These are practical starting points for learning.
The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) guides the curriculum. In parent terms, it brings language, movement and emotional development together with early reading, maths, creativity and understanding the world. Children practise making friends, working with others and managing routines alongside their learning through play. Adults join in, respond to what children say and help them develop their thinking further.
Indoor and outdoor spaces support digging, construction, running and exploration, with children choosing activities that interest them. Forest School also forms part of the preschool’s approach. Outdoor learning therefore has a place alongside stories, number games and creative work.
In March 2026, early years teaching adapted activities to children’s needs, and learning indoors and outside gave them opportunities to revisit skills. Staff helped children expand their vocabulary through conversation.
Practical independence is a clear feature of preschool care. In March 2026, preschool children handled fruit preparation, poured their own drinks and managed clothing for outdoor activities confidently. These routines give children opportunities to do things for themselves within the day.
Across early years, staff adjusted teaching for individual needs, including those of children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND). Children played sociably and showed friendly behaviour. Positive relationships between staff and families helped parents take an active part in their child’s learning, making communication between home and preschool part of the support around each child.
Attending Trinity Preschool does not guarantee a Reception place at Holy Trinity. Families must make a separate Reception application through Warwickshire County Council, or through their own local authority if they live outside Warwickshire. The usual application deadline is mid-January. Treat that application as a separate task from booking preschool sessions.
Preschool enquiries go to trinitypreschool@welearn365.com. Registration and session bookings use MagicBooking, which also gives families access to booking details and payments. Preschool tours can be arranged through the team.
Booking continuity. Sessions do not carry over automatically into another academic year. Families need to rebook when the next booking window opens, so an existing pattern needs attention again each year.
Occasional daytime and breakfast or after-school wraparound bookings are accepted for registered preschool children when spaces permit and the account is not in arrears. Children must have a confirmed online booking before attending.
Funded early education is accepted for children aged 3 and 4, alongside Free Childcare for Working Parents of 15 or 30 hours, subject to eligibility. Tax-Free Childcare is also accepted. Non-funded fees must be paid at least a month ahead; monthly payments are possible on that basis. Contact the school for current charges.
