An expected 2027 opening makes Alkerden’s nursery a future childcare option for families in Ebbsfleet Valley. The nursery is planned as one phase of Alkerden Church of England Academy, alongside its primary and secondary provision. That timing matters: families choosing care for an earlier start should distinguish the nursery’s expected opening from the academy’s existing school provision.
The academy has a Church of England foundation and welcomes families of any faith or none. Attendance at a place of worship is not a requirement. For parents, the distinction is useful: the school’s Christian identity does not mean a family must share that faith to consider it.
We hold no published inspection grade for this nursery.
The nursery phase is expected to open in 2027 as part of the academy’s phased development. It should therefore be considered as planned provision when weighing up a child’s future day, with that expected opening date kept separate from the dates of nursery information events.
Across the academy, support for children with special educational needs and disabilities involves a SEND team working with families and, where necessary, outside agencies. Parents with concerns are directed first to their child’s class teacher. This gives families a starting point for discussing a concern within the school’s support structure; it is an academy-wide arrangement rather than a description of nursery care routines.
Arbor is the academy’s main channel for communication between home and school. Parents can receive messages, amend their contact information and arrange appointments for parents’ evenings through the app or browser portal. Those functions bring school administration into one account, helping families keep messages and essential details together.
Nursery attendance does not guarantee a Reception place. Families must make a separate Reception application through the normal admissions process, rather than treating a nursery place as an allocation for the next stage.
The published Reception timetable gives a closing date of Friday 15 January 2027. Confirm the deadline for your child’s Reception entry year with the admissions team. Keep the two decisions separate: choosing nursery care and applying for a school place each need their own attention. The nursery’s expected opening in 2027 does not change that distinction.
Nursery information events include an open afternoon on 9 October 2026, from 1:30pm to 2:30pm. An open morning took place on 6 October 2026, from 9:30am to 10:30am. These are event times, rather than nursery childcare sessions.
For a nursery enquiry, contact the academy office at office@alkerdenacademy.co.uk or telephone 01987 591 477. A contact form also accepts a message with a parent’s name, email address and telephone number. These provide direct ways to express interest in the planned nursery.
