Specialist early learning, with education and care planned around the child: Tadworth Tots serves children aged 2–5 at The Children's Trust School in Tadworth. It is the school's on-site nursery, within its dedicated early years provision. The focus is on matching learning to complex needs rather than expecting children to fit a single pattern.
Some children combine Tadworth Tots with another nursery. Staff maintain contact with that setting, giving families a way to coordinate the two placements.
Age-appropriate activities follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), the framework for young children's learning and development. The school's routine activities give children repeated opportunities to practise communication, movement and cognition: expressing themselves, using their bodies and developing thinking skills. Here, the child's stage of development matters alongside their age. Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) guide personalised learning and therapy targets, with parents involved in setting and reviewing them.
Familiar routines form part of the school's approach to learning. Examples include a hello session, drinks and snacks, and a goodbye session. Personal care also has a place in learning: positioning, bathroom routines and preparation for activities are adapted to individual needs. The school aims to use repetition and predictability to support engagement, while responding to how a child feels that day.
The wider school environment includes sheltered outdoor learning areas, sensory rooms and a flexible sensory space. These are school facilities, rather than a description of a separate nursery room. They show how the physical environment accommodates children who need different ways to engage with learning.
Early years children continue receiving therapy through their community services. That distinction matters when planning how nursery attendance fits around existing support.
Before a child starts, assessment considers specialist equipment and whether individual adult support is needed. Home visits are routinely offered for children under 5. Once a placement is accepted, care planning takes place before admission and a transition plan accompanies the agreed start date. Preparation therefore includes practical care needs as well as education.
Communication with families uses ClassDojo, including regular updates and direct messages. Parents can contact the professionals supporting their child and contribute to planning meetings. For children under 5, EHCP reviews take place every six months, creating regular opportunities to reconsider needs and provision.
Attending Tadworth Tots does not guarantee a Reception place. Families should treat the next school placement as a separate decision and work with their local authority on the appropriate application or placement process.
Nursery practitioners coordinate with families, the local authority and the child's onward setting. This transition work concerns preparation and continuity of support; it should not be read as an admissions advantage.

Placement preparation. The assessment identifies support and equipment requirements. A start date depends on available capacity, agreed funding, a signed contract and the necessary staffing, equipment and resources being ready, so families need to account for those steps when planning a start.
