Language, independence and learning alongside friends give Glebefields’ early years provision its character. The nursery belongs to Glebefields Primary School on Sandgate Road in Tipton, with entry from a child’s third birthday. Morning and afternoon sessions offer two distinct starting points for the nursery day.
Ofsted judged the school’s early years provision Good at the inspection on 25 and 26 March 2025. That judgement covers early years within the school, rather than a separately inspected nursery. The educational emphasis is clear: helping children communicate and become more independent as they begin learning together.
A morning session runs from 8:30am to 11:30am; the afternoon runs from 12:30pm to 3:30pm. These are separate sessions, so the timing matters when matching nursery attendance to family routines.
The early years curriculum gives children repeated opportunities to develop language and communication. In March 2025, children’s starting points included difficulties in these areas, and learning was planned to address them. For parents, the important feature is that communication receives deliberate attention within the curriculum, rather than being left to develop incidentally.
The early years foundation stage, or EYFS, provides the starting point for later subject learning here. Its emphasis also reaches beyond knowledge: children practise managing alongside others, sharing turns and working with adults. Resilience and doing things independently are educational priorities. Children enjoyed learning with their peers in March 2025, giving these social skills a practical setting in which to develop.
For a child with additional needs, the school’s SEND arrangements give parents a clear starting point: talk to the class teacher. Planning support involves families, so parents’ knowledge of their child forms part of the discussion about provision and participation in learning.
The Inclusion Hub is a named point of contact within the school. Parents can arrange a conversation by email or telephone, using option 4 on 0121 556 2651. This provides a route for discussing concerns as well as sharing what is going well. The school’s approach covers both temporary needs and support that may continue through a child’s education.
Attending this nursery does not guarantee a Reception place. Families must make a separate Reception application through Sandwell’s local authority admissions route, using the deadline set by the authority for the relevant intake. Treat that application as a separate task from arranging nursery attendance.
The school’s admissions guidance directs families to the online application route for Reception. A nursery application goes to the school itself; the Reception application goes through the local authority. Keeping those two processes distinct avoids mistaking a nursery place for a later school offer.
To request nursery admission, complete the nursery application form and send it to admin@glebefields.net, or hand a paper copy to the school office. The school then contacts families to discuss their request.
Longer provision. The school describes eligible families’ 30-hour nursery places as something it is exploring. Treat this as a proposal, rather than an established session option. The school office handles enquiries on 0121 556 2651.
