A morning, an afternoon or a full day: St Barnabas gives families three nursery session options, alongside provision for two and three year olds. This is the nursery attached to the Church of England primary school on Collin Street in Warrington. The practical choice is between a shorter session and a day that includes lunchtime.
The morning runs from 8:40am to 11:30am; afternoons start at 12:30pm and finish at 3:00pm. A full day spans 8:40am to 3:00pm. Those different finishing times matter when arranging collection or combining nursery with other childcare.
Children with additional needs can receive support from a young age. The early years team works with outreach specialists when appropriate to adjust provision. Foundation Stage staff have training in speech, language and communication needs, giving families a specific starting point for discussions about their child's communication.
Each nursery child is assigned a key person. Before children start nursery, parents are invited to a summer intake meeting with teaching staff and school leadership. Families can discuss additional needs there, or arrange a separate conversation, so concerns can inform planning before the child starts.
Food brings concrete choices. Children can bring a packed lunch or have a school dinner, paid for separately through ParentPay. Snacks are offered twice daily, with cereal, yoghurt, pitta and dips among the choices; milk, fruit and salad are also provided each day. Families are asked to contribute towards snacks each half-term. School meals cater for allergies and dietary requirements.
For children needing extra help, parents take part in planning and reviewing support with the special educational needs coordinator (SENCO) and class teacher. Early years outreach support can help staff adapt provision rather than wait until later schooling. An accessible toilet in the nursery building is a useful physical feature for families discussing personal care and access needs. Contact the SENCO at senco@stbarnabascewarrington.co.uk to discuss concerns.
Nursery attendance does not guarantee a Reception place. For the September 2027 intake, attending St Barnabas nursery gives priority under criterion E, ahead of other applicants in criterion F but below criteria A to D. Where children have equal priority, proximity to school decides between them.
Parents must apply separately for Reception through Warrington Borough Council's online common application form and complete the school's supplementary form. Apply by the normal deadline for the relevant intake. Once a place is confirmed, a summer welcome meeting introduces families to the Reception teaching and support team. That supports the move into school; it does not replace the application.
Both 15-hour and 30-hour funded places are offered for two and three year olds, subject to entitlement and availability. Additional hours can be purchased when a child does not qualify for 30 funded hours. The office can help families with funding applications and discuss available places.
Link Club includes breakfast and after-school options for nursery age groups. Ask the school for current charges, including additional sessions, dinners and snack contributions. Nursery enquiries go directly to the office on 01925 633606 or school@stbarnabascewarrington.co.uk.
