Nursery at Waldringfield Primary School

Outdoor shoes kept at school give a practical clue to life at Waldringfield: the grounds are used for both learning and play across the year. Nursery provision serves children aged 3–4 within Waldringfield Primary School on Cliff Road. Teaching roles cover both Nursery and Reception, placing the provision within the school's early years teaching structure.
The school sees its small size as an advantage and describes a family atmosphere. That is its own view of the setting. We hold no published inspection grade for this nursery.
Phonics teaching includes children across EYFS, with Little Wandle as the school's chosen scheme. For parents, this gives a named approach to the sounds children encounter as they begin learning about reading.
Outside, the wider school has expansive grounds, large grass areas and an artificial surface. These are concrete features of the school setting rather than a description of a separate nursery garden. Outdoor learning also has a practical routine: children keep trainers or wellies at school, and wellies are recommended as easier for the youngest children to change into. Outdoor trousers are advised for winter. Clothing therefore needs to work for learning beyond the classroom as well as indoor activities.
Lunches are cooked on site, with two courses and choices covering main dishes, salads, vegetables and desserts. This makes food part of the school's shared daily arrangements. Nuts and products containing nuts should stay out of snacks and packed lunches; families are also asked to consider allergies when bringing celebration food.
For a diagnosed allergy or another dietary requirement, parents can request the catering allergy form through the office. That provides a specific route for sharing needs with the kitchen team.
SEND support sits within the school's staffing structure. The SENDCo's role includes addressing barriers to learning, including communication difficulties. Informal SEND conversations are offered on Mondays, giving parents a regular opportunity to raise concerns and share their knowledge of their child.
Attending the nursery does not guarantee a Reception place. Families must make a separate application through Suffolk County Council's school admissions route, including when their child already attends a school nursery. Treat that application as a distinct step in your planning.
For children born between 1 September 2021 and 31 August 2022, the application deadline was 15 January 2026. That deadline belongs to a past admissions cycle; it should not be used to plan a later application.
Funded nursery places are offered for 3–4-year-olds. Nursery enquiries go directly to the school: telephone 01473 736276 or email office@waldringfieldprimary.co.uk. The same office can arrange a school visit, allowing families to discuss the provision in person.
School-wide collection arrangements require parents to tell staff when someone different will collect their child or when they are delayed. Keeping staff informed helps avoid uncertainty at collection. For current charges, contact the school directly.
