Three hours each morning, with direct access between indoor and outdoor learning spaces: Green Lane's nursery combines a regular morning pattern with the option to book afternoon attendance and a lunch club. There are 34 nursery places at the school in Worcester Park. Children typically start in September, in the term after their third birthday.
This is the school's own preschool provision. Early years provision was graded Good at Ofsted's inspection on 11 and 12 January 2023; that judgement covers the school's early years rather than a separately inspected nursery.
Free-flow access gives children opportunities to move between learning indoors and outside. The spaces connect directly, so outdoor learning is part of the nursery's physical arrangement rather than a separate destination. Morning attendance runs throughout the working week, giving children a repeated session pattern.
The nursery follows the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). Books, songs and rhymes introduce children to language and reading before formal phonics teaching. In January 2023, nursery children responded positively to these activities. The emphasis is on those early encounters with words and sounds.
Across early years, children also practised counting in different steps and learned language for direction and position in January 2023. These are concrete examples of what early learning means here: building number knowledge and the vocabulary to describe where things are. They sit alongside the nursery's access to learning spaces inside and out.
A nursery class teacher forms part of the staffing structure. For children needing additional educational or emotional support, the class teacher works with the Inclusion Manager to agree targets, with monitoring by the Inclusion Team. Parents and carers receive information about their child's needs and the support arranged.
Progress reviews involve families, giving them a role in the support process and in helping their child at home. Safeguarding concerns can be taken to the Designated Safeguarding Lead or the deputy lead. These are distinct routes for discussing learning needs and concerns about a child's safety.
Nursery attendance does not guarantee a Reception place. Families must make a separate Reception application through the normal admissions route and meet its deadline. School admissions are handled by Kingston upon Thames Council, with the Coombe Academy Trust acting as admissions authority.
Treat the nursery choice and the Reception application as separate decisions. A familiar school setting does not remove the need to apply again.
Morning sessions run from 9:00am to noon, Monday to Friday. Afternoon sessions run from noon to 3:00pm on the same days, while Lunch Club runs from noon to 1:00pm. Afternoon attendance and Lunch Club can be booked in advance. Eligible parents can use Government funding for those bookings; personal funding is another option.
Term dates matter for collection arrangements. On 18 December 2026, the nursery closes at noon. Families can contact the main office on 020 8337 6976 or send an enquiry using the contact form, which includes an Admissions option. Separate school tours can also be arranged, allowing families to visit before deciding.
