Our Little Angelz Nursery Tyseley

At a Glance

Flower planting, early balancing practice and conversations in small groups give this Speedwell Road nursery a recognisable character. In May 2024, children shared planting resources, babies practised their first walking skills and older children tackled an outdoor climbing frame. These are useful examples of how learning combined physical challenges, conversation and cooperation.

At its May 2024 inspection, Ofsted rated the nursery Good and judged safeguarding effective. Our Little Angelz Nursery Tyseley caters for children aged 1 to 60 months. Baby Room, Tweenies and Preschool provide the room structure.

Relationships were a clear thread through the May 2024 account: staff gathered information before children started, offered comfort when needed and shared daily updates with families. There was also a specific teaching concern about adults speaking and singing too loudly. That matters alongside the positive picture, because children need to hear clearly to join in.

The Nursery Experience

Rooms and Ages

Baby Room, Tweenies and Preschool mark the progression through the nursery.

In May 2024, babies used indoor play equipment to develop balance, with adults encouraging their attempts at walking. Older children used the outdoor climbing frame to attempt physical challenges with managed risk. The practical value is different at each stage: an opportunity to rehearse an emerging movement for a baby, and to judge a more demanding challenge for an older child.

Learning and Activities

The nursery follows the early years foundation stage, the framework for children's learning, development and care. In everyday terms, play supports communication, physical development and relationships alongside children's growing understanding of the world.

In May 2024, staff used questions that invited children to think through problems rather than simply supply a short answer. Flower planting gave children something concrete to investigate: what plants need, how to care for them and how to share the materials. Activities were planned around individual children's needs, making the learning relevant to the children taking part.

Songs helped establish routines and encouraged speaking. Small-group conversations also gave children opportunities to address others. These examples show how language practice could sit within the day rather than depend on a separate lesson.

Care and Support

Before children started in May 2024, staff collected information about their interests, health and familiar routines, then made it accessible to colleagues. This gave adults a practical starting point for understanding each child rather than expecting families to explain everything afresh to different staff.

At the May 2024 inspection, Ofsted found that children settled readily, the key-person arrangements supported secure relationships, and children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) received good support and made good progress. Developmental observations helped staff identify where additional help might be needed, while the special educational needs coordinator worked with external professionals.

Daily communication with parents was part of the May 2024 routine. Families received information about their child's day and were invited to nursery celebrations, giving them ways to participate beyond practical handovers.

Behaviour guidance also had a clear purpose. In May 2024, adults explained how unwanted behaviour affected others and rewarded attentive listening with stickers. That links expectations to understandable consequences, a useful foundation for sharing a room and later moving to school.

Funding and Paid Extras

Funded childcare and private childcare are offered. In May 2024, funded early education covered children aged two, three and four. Current prices come in the nursery's written quotation.

Things to Consider

  • Listening and adult voice levels. In May 2024, loud speech and singing made it harder for some children to hear, and older children sometimes copied the volume or spoke over one another. During a visit, ask how staff now keep group activities audible and calm.
  • Your child's room and attendance plan. Baby Room, Tweenies and Preschool provide the stages, while the opening day runs from 7.30am to 6pm. Ask how your child's room placement, settling visits and booking pattern would work together.
  • The complete childcare quotation. Funded and private childcare are offered. Ask for a written breakdown covering the funded attendance arrangement, additional hours, food and non-food consumables so that you can assess the whole commitment.

The Verdict

Our Little Angelz Nursery Tyseley suits families seeking baby-to-preschool care across the year, with a weekday opening window that can accommodate working routines. Its May 2024 examples give the strongest sense of the nursery: planting together, practising movement and building confidence in conversation.

The Good judgement provides a clear inspection position, while the concern about adult voice levels deserves attention. For a family choosing here, the most useful visit would connect that teaching issue with the practical details of their child's room, settling arrangements and attendance plan.
