The early years foundation stage is the required framework for children's learning, development and care; here, the October 2024 examples show how play brought language, mathematics and movement into the day. Staff extended children's speech by introducing vocabulary, repeating their words and modelling pronunciation. A speech and language programme supplied additional help.
Reading reached beyond storybooks. In October 2024, children could explore newspapers, recipe books and car manuals, while the lending library connected nursery reading with home. Outdoors, a grassy slope offered running practice alongside digging and climbing. The garden also supplied vegetables to grow and pumpkins to measure.
