Music, dance and singing added another strand, building listening, confidence and creativity through experiences that young children could join physically as well as verbally.

Practitioners monitored development, identified gaps and planned activities around what children needed next. That matters because the strongest examples were not simply entertaining: counting language accompanied the car tracks, descriptive vocabulary grew through herbs and play dough, and questions during messy play helped older children connect new sensations with prior knowledge.

Relationships were a clear strength in October 2022. Children appeared happy, safe and secure, while practitioners set consistent boundaries and modelled positive behaviour. Parents valued the team's kindness, verbal updates and information shared through the nursery app.

Safeguarding arrangements were effective at that inspection: staff understood signs of harm and referral routes, while leaders used recruitment checks and daily risk assessments. Visual aids and transitional objects helped children with special educational needs and disabilities understand routines, with practitioners working alongside other professionals. The approach made routines more intelligible, rather than expecting every child to process spoken instructions in the same way.

Healthy choices and respect for differences also formed part of children's personal development in October 2022. Practitioners praised positive behaviour and helped children learn the boundaries expected of them. For parents, the practical implication is a setting whose care evidence covered both emotional security and the habits children need in a shared group.

One limitation matters for families with babies. Ofsted asked the nursery to strengthen some practitioners' play interactions so babies' language and learning received greater challenge. It also sought more first-hand experiences of the local environment for all children.
