The strongest impression from that inspection is of children who knew the rhythm of their day. Outdoors, bicycles, swings and climbing equipment supported gross motor development, alongside running and balancing. Staff also used dough and drawing to build finer hand control. The breadth is useful: counting was not confined to an adult-led exercise, literacy extended beyond the nursery through library trips, and movement ranged from controlled drawing to running and balancing. Children could practise the same developmental skills in markedly different ways.

Ofsted's improvement points were equally practical. Staff needed stronger subject knowledge to extend children's learning, and more focused behaviour strategies so that children understood why rules and expectations existed. Those priorities give parents useful ground for judging progress since the inspection.

Relationships were a clear strength in June 2023. Practitioners adapted their planning to each child, and inspectors found that children with SEND advanced effectively from their individual starting points. Parents valued regular meetings with their child's key person. On the climbing equipment, children sought a familiar adult's encouragement before trying more for themselves, showing how emotional security supported physical confidence.

At that inspection, regular coaching, supervision and training supported the team. Ofsted found safeguarding effective in June 2023. Staff could identify concerns and knew the reporting route, while the nursery's employment and staff-development processes incorporated protective checks.

Fresh food was prepared for children and dietary needs were accommodated at the inspection date. Staff modelled helpful behaviour, and children passed cups and water containers to friends. This linked everyday care with independence and consideration for others.

The June 2023 account also shows how routines worked across the building. Children waited patiently on stairs leading to and from the outdoor area and welcomed one another at the start of the day. Increasing independence appeared in small tasks such as hanging up coats. During play, staff modelled cooperation while children helped friends by passing cups and water containers. For a family comparing settings, these ordinary transitions can reveal as much about the day as a planned activity: children were expected to participate, wait and help.

Learning improvement. The June 2023 inspection asked leaders to deepen staff subject knowledge so activities could extend learning more securely. Families can ask what coaching and monitoring now demonstrate progress.
