Rainbow Friends Childcare is a small Barking setting with capacity for 30 children at 5 Drydock Square, IG11 7SQ. Its December 2025 report card presents a mixed but useful picture: inclusion was at the strong standard, four areas met the expected standard, and leadership and governance needed attention. Safeguarding standards were met.

The strongest thread is individual support. Inspectors found that leaders consistently met children's needs, while communication and language developed well. The leadership weakness matters, however: agency-staff induction was not effective enough, and the provider was required to improve how those staff understood policies and passed information to leaders by 17 December 2025.

The Early Years Foundation Stage shapes learning through play, routines and adult-led experiences across children's development rather than through school-style lessons. In December 2025, babies counted spoonfuls and named vegetables at lunch, while older children and those with special educational needs and/or disabilities discussed pictures and characters in small-group stories and nursery rhymes. These ordinary moments built vocabulary, early mathematics, sharing and turn-taking.

Indoor and outdoor provision was judged well designed around children's starting points, interests and development. Younger children explored quantity and weight with water, then sequenced putting on wellington boots before playing outside. Staff also placed cars around activities to help children who found joining play difficult.

Relationships were a clear strength in December 2025. Babies formed secure attachments, and young babies who arrived unsettled became calm enough to laugh and join circle-time activities within hours. Staff used objects of reference and other communication strategies to help children understand routines, express needs and manage emotions.

Children practised independence by clearing plates, pouring drinks and cutting food safely. Parents received app updates and daily conversations, while leaders worked with local-authority early years professionals and external agencies when specialist help was needed.

Safeguarding standards were met, but the report also found that some staff did not understand the safeguarding policy well enough. Families should weigh the caring daily practice alongside that specific leadership and induction concern.

The nursery is at 5 Drydock Square, Barking, IG11 7SQ and has 30 places in total. The December 2025 report found that children were suitably prepared for their next stage through communication, language, routines and practical independence.

• Agency-staff induction. The December 2025 report required better support for agency staff to understand policies and report information promptly. Ask what changed after the 17 December deadline and how new or temporary staff are now checked before working with children.
• Daily organisation. Ask about session patterns, opening hours, accepted ages and settling arrangements together, so the practical offer can be weighed against the report-card findings.
• Safeguarding policy. Safeguarding standards were met, but some staff did not understand the policy well enough. Ask how leaders now test every permanent and agency practitioner's understanding of procedures.

Rainbow Friends Childcare's December 2025 report shows warm relationships, effective individual support and purposeful learning woven through meals, stories, water play and routines. Inclusion reached the strong standard. Yet leadership and governance needed attention, with agency induction the decisive weakness.

This setting is best suited to families who value close settling support and communication-led early learning, and who are prepared to scrutinise the nursery's response to the induction action before making a decision.
