Preschool children used balance boards, toddlers explored cooked spaghetti and scissors, and younger children used outdoor swinging bars with adult supervision. The curriculum therefore connected fine-motor control, balance and independence with experiences children could handle directly.

Secure key-person attachments helped children feel safe and confident in June 2023. Staff modelled positive behaviour, and children used thumbs-up and thumbs-down during group time to discuss feelings. Preschool children also recalled their morning's learning. This combination gave children both emotional language and a chance to reflect.

Independence was built into ordinary routines. Preschool children served meals to peers, younger children put on their coats, and toddlers practised bathroom and handwashing routines. Children also sang a Hebrew prayer before lunch and visited the library and local shops. Inspectors identified one improvement: resources needed to reflect all faiths, religions and cultures more fully so teaching about the wider world was broader.

Safeguarding was effective at the 2023 inspection. Recruitment and ongoing staff checks formed part of leaders' precautions, alongside daily assessments of potential hazards. Practitioners knew how to recognise and escalate welfare concerns, including those involving another adult working at the nursery.
