More able children helped others build roads, showing that the play supported cooperation as well as construction skills. Music and movement brought all ages together, with children responding to instructions and changing how they moved. The May 2024 improvement points were to strengthen those adult-led activities and reduce playroom noise, which could make questions harder to hear for children with speech delay or English as an additional language.

Warm relationships are a clear strength. Staff encouraged sharing, turn-taking, patience and respect, while praise supported confidence. Sensitive children received time and reassurance during settling. At breakfast, a conversation about warm and hot milk became a simple safety lesson.

Support for additional needs was practical and coordinated. Staff worked with parents and other agencies, and visual timetables helped children understand what would happen next. In May 2024, staff understood signs of harm or neglect, local safeguarding concerns and reporting routes. Records covered accidents, incidents and existing injuries, with parents told about first aid and injuries discussed with them.
