Nickie's Nippers Pre School is a 36-place, sessional setting at Novio Magnus Hall in Crayford. Its March 2025 Ofsted inspection judged it Good across education, behaviour, personal development and leadership, with effective safeguarding. The clearest strength is purposeful, inclusive teaching: children were seen making rapid progress while staff adjusted support around individual needs.
The March 2025 inspection found a broad educational programme spanning indoor and outdoor learning. Fine-motor control and early writing had clear practical weight: children handled scissors skilfully and some could write their own names. Mathematics also ran through the day, from counting food at lunch to examining how soil and sand settled into layers in clear containers.
This is practical Early Years Foundation Stage learning: communication, physical development, early literacy and mathematics grow through play, routines and guided activities rather than formal lessons. Small sand timers helped children practise turn-taking, and older children helped younger peers clear spilled soil. One weakness was whole-group story time, which sometimes ran too long to hold every child's attention.
Children settled quickly and understood consistent routines and boundaries in March 2025. Staff tailored communication support to each child, helping children express themselves with confidence.
Inclusion was a substantial strength. Barriers to joining in were addressed through tailored teaching and coordinated support for children with SEND. Children also built independence by putting on coats and serving themselves at snack time. Parents reported supportive daily information-sharing.
Safeguarding arrangements were effective at the inspection. The provider had failed to notify Ofsted of a manager change, but the oversight had not affected children's safety or learning.
