This is an out-of-school club on the St Paulinus C of E Primary School site in Crayford, rather than a day nursery. The December 2024 visit, published in 2025, found that the provision met requirements and that safeguarding arrangements were effective. Children chose from arts and crafts, games and social activities, while staff supported friendships across age groups.
The club has capacity for 30 children. Its school-site model will appeal most to families looking for care around the school day, although attendance patterns and accepted ages need to be discussed directly before applying.
Choice drives the experience. For children in the early-years age range, the Early Years Foundation Stage sets the areas of learning and development that practitioners support through play; this remains an out-of-school offer rather than a preschool curriculum. Inspectors in December 2024 saw children making choices and joining mixed-age activities. Arts and crafts mattered to them, but friendship and time with other children were just as central.
The earlier February 2019 inspection gives useful detail on how that choice worked. Children measured patterned paper for decorated money boxes, set up a badminton net, played skittles and catch, and took imaginative games into the playground. Staff adapted activities to children's interests and abilities. This is play-led out-of-school care, not a preschool curriculum offer.
Relationships are the clearest thread across both inspections. The December 2024 evidence presents familiar staff relationships as a base from which children felt secure and engaged socially. Parent feedback pointed to approachable staff and the ability to add sessions when needed.
Safeguarding arrangements were effective at that visit. Inspectors also saw children helping themselves to fruit, alongside meals they characterised as nutritious. In February 2019, children also made their own wraps from healthy ingredients, using supper to practise sharing and table manners.
The club operates from St Paulinus C of E Primary School, Iron Mill Lane, Crayford, Dartford DA1 4RW. Its subtype is out-of-school day care and it has capacity for 30 children.
Families need the club’s current timetable and quotation to establish which before-school, after-school or holiday patterns are sold, the eligible year groups and collection arrangements.
West Hill Life at Saint Paulinus is best understood as school-site wraparound care built around children's choice, mixed-age friendships and practical activities. The December 2024 inspection position is current and positive: requirements were met and safeguarding was effective. It should suit families seeking care around the school day or occasional flexible extra sessions, subject to confirming which patterns are currently sold.
