Outdoors, large wooden blocks became a bridge for balancing, bicycles developed coordination, and weekly forest-school sessions brought nature, tools and varied materials into the programme.

Relationships gave children confidence to settle quickly and explore. In January 2023, children with special educational needs and/or disabilities, and those learning English as an additional language, made good progress from their starting points. Parents also valued communication and home-learning information.

Safeguarding was effective at that inspection. Staff understood child-protection indicators and reporting procedures, while recruitment, ongoing suitability checks and risk assessment formed the operational safeguards. Regular supervision and observations of practice supported the team. Leaders had concentrated on safeguarding knowledge following the previous inspection, producing substantial improvement. Practical routines reinforced the educational work. Children washed their hands, wiped floor spillages promptly, and helped prepare and clean tables around lunch. Staff encouraged healthy eating, hydration and hygiene, turning care tasks into opportunities for responsibility. Children also invented games and explained their rules to one another. That combination of cooperation and autonomy matters: adults supported learning, but children had room to organise an activity, communicate an idea and carry it through together.
