Treetops Nursery's strongest documented feature is language woven through play, rather than confined to a set story time. The evidence is a dated snapshot, but it gives families a detailed view of the practice inspectors saw.

In March 2023, children used books independently, brought stories to staff and explored familiar tales with props. Experiments and physical challenges added breadth: children watched a foaming volcano activity, while staff adapted a basketball task so that each child could take part at an appropriate level.

In March 2023, babies explored paint and texture with their hands, while older children shaped play dough and represented their faces. A morning outdoor warm-up used jumping, hopping, running and a countdown. These examples show an active curriculum in which physical, creative and experimental work sat alongside literacy. The basketball adaptation is revealing: successful children moved farther from the hoop, while those needing support stood closer. The same activity could therefore challenge one child and keep another engaged.

The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) is the statutory framework for this English setting, organising learning across connected areas rather than prescribing a timetable. It gives play, conversation and routines educational purpose across the day. The inspection described experiences across all areas of learning. In practice, staff introduced vocabulary such as lava and funnel during an experiment and used story props for The Hungry Caterpillar and Three Billy Goats Gruff. That gave children reasons to speak, imagine and connect new words with an experience. Children also chose literacy corners independently and took books to adults for shared reading. This matters because books were both an adult-led teaching tool and something children could initiate for themselves.

Each room had its own outdoor area in March 2023. One improvement point was clear: resources in the gardens were not always sufficiently age-appropriate or accessible for children to pursue their own ideas. Families comparing outdoor provision should weigh both the dedicated space and that finding.

During the March 2023 visit, family input and displays of children's interests informed planning and moves between rooms. That continuity can make a room change less abrupt for children. Parents valued updates about daily life and progress, and an online facility linked experiences at home with nursery planning.

Safeguarding was effective at that inspection. Staff and leaders were equipped to identify concerns and act on them, with employment safeguards kept under review.

The inspection also found balanced food and drink, handwashing routines and teaching about oral health. Displays about Ramadan and families supported conversations about belonging and difference. A second improvement point concerned quieter children and the need for more opportunities for them to express ideas and take part in conversation.

The setting is at Doyle Gardens, London NW10 3SQ, and has capacity for 108 children aged from three months to five years. The provider record classifies this as full day care, but that classification does not define a bookable full-day session or its times. Attendance therefore depends on the current booking pattern agreed with the nursery, rather than on assumptions drawn from the service label.

• Outdoor resources. The March 2023 inspection asked the nursery to improve the accessibility and age suitability of garden resources. The outdoor area used by each age group is the place to judge how much children can select independently today.
• Quieter speakers. Inspectors wanted more chances for less-confident speakers to contribute ideas. The current approach should show how quieter children join conversation without being put under pressure.
• Attendance fit. Published evidence does not define the booking patterns sold. A decision depends on matching the family's required days to the nursery's current pattern.

Treetops Nursery's March 2023 picture is strongest where stories, vocabulary, experiments and movement meet. Inspectors saw attentive relationships, effective safeguarding and purposeful links with parents, but also set clear work on outdoor resources and opportunities for quieter speakers. It best suits families attracted to literacy-rich, hands-on learning whose choice can take account of the current outdoor offer and attendance pattern.
