In March 2022, learning was practical and conversational. Staff stayed close as babies pushed hoops through cardboard tubes and introduced vocabulary during sensory play. Toddlers worked with rice and utensils while adults brought counting, colours and shapes into the activity. For older children, collaborative construction and outdoor investigation created reasons to talk, negotiate and think.

The nursery follows the Early Years Foundation Stage, the statutory framework that organises learning around children's communication, physical, personal and wider development through play and guided activity. Visually stimulating immersive worlds built around books encouraged imagination and helped children connect new knowledge with stories in March 2022.

Outdoor provision was uneven. Children over two regularly used the outdoor area developing physical confidence and learning to manage risk. Babies did not receive the same breadth of planned outdoor experiences, and leaders were asked to enrich that part of the curriculum. Large-group activities for preschool children were another improvement point because some children lost interest.

Relationships were a strength in March 2022. Children behaved well, responded to reminders about sharing and turn-taking, and older children showed care for one another. Staff worked with parents and other agencies to support children with special educational needs or disabilities, while personal-care routines helped children become more independent.

Safeguarding arrangements were effective at that inspection. Staff understood signs of possible harm and the action to take, and leaders provided regular training and suitability checks. Nutritious meals and snacks were prepared on site at the time, alongside routines that taught children good hygiene.
