Warm relationships and a carefully sequenced curriculum define Threshers Day Nursery. Ofsted judged the setting Good in December 2024, finding happy children who separate confidently from parents and build trusting relationships with staff.

The inspection described a curriculum rich in stories, songs, sensory work and construction. Children also practise counting and problem-solving, while babies explore movement independently. This gives learning both breadth and a clear developmental purpose.

The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum uses play, conversation and planned activities to build children's communication, physical, personal and early academic skills. Planning is carefully sequenced, so experiences build on what children already know.

Language receives close attention. Staff use songs, rhymes, stories, signing and visual cues, introduce unfamiliar vocabulary and keep conversation flowing. Number games ask children to match quantities to numerals, while story discussions encourage prediction. Physical development is equally tangible: babies climb and toddle indoors, and coached ball activities outside build coordination and perseverance.

Children's emotional security is a strength. Staff comfort children when needed, reinforce sharing and turn-taking, and help them manage routines such as self-registration and hanging up coats. Parents receive photographs, progress updates and ideas for continuing learning at home.

Safeguarding arrangements were effective at the December 2024 inspection. Children with SEND had tailored plans developed with parents and external professionals and made good progress. The one improvement point was consistency in helping individual children understand good physical health and develop healthy habits.

Routines are embedded well. Children self-register, hang up their own coats and learn to share and take turns. These small acts matter: independence is practised as part of the day rather than saved for a formal school-readiness exercise. Staff use visual cues and signing alongside spoken language, giving children several ways to follow and join a conversation.

Individual learning needs shape how activities run. Group times are flexible rather than rigid, while thoughtful questions stretch counting, listening and simple problem-solving. Staff introduce words children may not know and support meaning with visual cues. The implication is practical: a child can participate through speech, signs or pictures while still being challenged to extend vocabulary.

Outdoor activity has a purposeful place too. Children practise bouncing and catching balls with coaches, persist when the skill is difficult and develop control through repetition. Indoors, babies climb, toddle and investigate independently. The balance gives younger children freedom to test movement while older children encounter a more directed physical challenge.

Warm relationships sit behind that learning. Children seek reassurance when they need it, while predictable rules help them understand what happens next. The strong parent partnership found at inspection extends the curriculum home through progress information and suggested activities. For a family, that means development is not confined to occasional formal updates.

Leadership provides staff supervision and professional development, and staff well-being receives close attention. Additional funding is accounted for and directed towards individual needs and learning experiences. For children needing extra help, plans are created with parents and outside professionals rather than sitting apart from the nursery's wider curriculum.

The setting was also fundraising to improve its outdoor environment, with further equipment and a forest-school area planned at the inspection date. Those were plans, not confirmed current facilities, so families interested in outdoor provision will need the current completion position from the nursery.

It is best suited to families who value structured learning through play and close progress communication, provided the current attendance pattern meets their needs.
