Rossy's Rascals is a sessional early-years setting in Orpington. Its latest full Ofsted inspection, in May 2022, judged it Good in every graded area and found safeguarding effective. This is an inspection-era view rather than a description of today's routine, but it records a small setting where close relationships and carefully targeted learning mattered.
In May 2022, children learned through practical play: balancing outdoors, joining construction materials and comparing the sizes of small objects. Older children also made pretend perfume from leaf cuttings. These examples show the Early Years Foundation Stage in action, with communication, physical development, mathematics and imaginative play developed through connected experiences rather than formal lessons.
In May 2022, staff used observations of children's development to decide where each child needed further support. Story-time planning and opportunities to learn about technology were the two areas identified for improvement.
In May 2022, children showed age-appropriate security and settled behaviour. Children with special educational needs and/or disabilities received activities shaped around their interests, and children learning English as an additional language were helped to build vocabulary and communication. Parents and carers were invited to watch the Queen's Platinum Jubilee songs and party games, one concrete example of family involvement at the time.
The setting has capacity for 25 children. Families should seek a current written quotation directly from Rossy's Rascals before making a commitment.
The May 2022 evidence presents Rossy's Rascals as a small, play-led setting with warm key-person bonds, thoughtful support for individual needs and a Good inspection outcome. It best suits families seeking sessional childcare who value practical learning and a setting with capacity for 25 children. The dated evidence makes a visit especially important for understanding today's timetable and routines.
Ofsted judged the setting Good overall in May 2022, with Good judgements for education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, and leadership and management. Safeguarding arrangements were effective.
Families should discuss their child's age and the groups currently operating when arranging a visit.
In May 2022, children balanced outdoors, used construction materials, compared the sizes of small objects and developed imaginative play with dolls and leaf cuttings.
Current funded-entitlement participation and delivery arrangements should be discussed directly with the setting.
Rossy's Rascals is recorded as sessional day care. Families should ask for the current days, session times and minimum attendance pattern.
