School readiness was broader than letter recognition. Putting on coats, serving food, managing plates, expressing feelings and persisting with a task all helped children practise the self-care and communication expected in their next stage. Families viewed the manager's recent adjustments positively.

Ofsted also set two clear improvement priorities in February 2024: deepen children's understanding of how healthy lifestyles affect their bodies, and target professional development more precisely so teaching can reach the highest level.
