A separate Montessori room, a garden with space to climb and dig, and football coaching from QPR Football Club give Little People of Willow Vale a clear character. This Shepherds Bush nursery combines indoor learning with plenty of outdoor activity. Its strongest practical feature is the way the Montessori room connects to its own outside learning space, making growing and messy play part of the environment rather than an occasional addition.
The nursery takes children from three months to five years. The nursery is registered for 42 places. At its August 2023 inspection, Ofsted rated it Good, judged safeguarding effective and found that support for children with special educational needs included close monitoring and following professional advice. Those are dated judgements, rather than a guarantee about any individual child's experience.
Babies and toddlers share a spacious area in the main building, with places for reading, relaxing and pretend play. That combination gives younger children different ways to use the room: movement and exploration alongside quieter activity. Book and dressing-up corners add straightforward opportunities for stories and imaginative play.
The Montessori room occupies a separate unit, combining Montessori learning activities with an adjoining outdoor space containing a mud kitchen and an area for growing plants. The separate unit gives Montessori activities their own indoor and outdoor setting. It also makes the outdoor provision relevant to the room itself, rather than simply describing a garden somewhere on the site.
The early years foundation stage sets the framework for children's learning, development and care: in everyday language, play and interaction support learning as well as practical and social development. Montessori is the additional educational approach here, with Montessori activities taking place in the separate room. The room's growing area and mud kitchen extend the possibilities beyond indoor resources.
Weekly activities include ballet and gymnastics, yoga and Spanish classes, alongside football coaching from QPR Football Club. Specialist instructors lead the lessons. For families, the attraction is the breadth of experiences within the nursery week, from movement to another language, rather than having to arrange each activity independently.
In August 2023, babies listened to expressively read stories, while older children encountered new vocabulary through pictures, print and activities involving vegetables. Toddlers counted pieces of pasta to connect numbers with quantities. These are concrete examples of early learning through ordinary materials, rather than a day built around formal lessons.
Language work also followed children's interests in August 2023. Staff responded to what caught a child's attention and added words and explanations; with babies, they used changes of tone to hold attention. This gives parents a useful picture of how conversation can become part of play, rather than something reserved for a scheduled activity.
The garden includes an Outdoor Classroom, sensory play space, a climbing area and a digging zone. These offer different kinds of outdoor experience: physical challenge, exploration and opportunities to handle materials. A weekly Forest School programme adds outdoor learning and play to the routine.
Local parks, markets and a library are accessible daily, although that is different from a promise of daily outings. In August 2023, children also visited a local park, played cooperatively around the outdoor mud kitchen and watched the beans they had planted develop seeds. Growing something gives children a change to notice over time, while shared pretend play creates reasons to talk and cooperate.
The group-wide Key Worker System allocates a dedicated member of staff to care for a child's needs. Having an identified adult gives families a clear relationship around daily care, rather than treating the staff team as interchangeable contacts.
In August 2023, settling arrangements included conversations with parents before children started and an invitation for parents to join lunch during settling. Moves between rooms were paced around individual children. Together, these arrangements made the transition a shared process involving home and nursery, rather than simply setting a start date.
An electronic app also allowed parents to follow their child's learning in August 2023, with staff explaining the developmental purpose of activities. Families could borrow books through a library system, extending reading into home life. The app and book borrowing served different purposes: one helped parents understand the nursery day, while the other gave them something practical to share with their child.
The special educational needs coordinator monitored learning in August 2023, and staff followed advice from other professionals. Staff development at that time included an induction, mentoring for newcomers and training directed towards their roles. These are useful mechanisms to understand, alongside the dated inspection judgement, when considering how an individual child's support would be organised.
Cooks prepare three meals each day and snacks on the premises, using produce mainly supplied by Abel and Cole. That makes food preparation part of this branch's daily operation.
Opening hours are 7.30am to 6pm, Monday to Friday. The nursery operates across the year, closing on bank holidays and for a week at Easter and a week at Christmas. For working families, those closures are a concrete part of planning childcare cover.

Willow Vale suits families who value Montessori activities alongside a substantial outdoor offer and weekly specialist experiences. The separate Montessori unit, garden areas and QPR Football Club coaching give it more character than a generic list of nursery activities would convey.
Its August 2023 Good judgement provides a useful quality reference, with an equally useful improvement priority around learning about difference. The strongest reason to consider it is the combination of learning spaces and experiences; the next step is to understand how those fit the needs and attendance arrangements of the individual child.
Ofsted rated the nursery Good at its 10 August 2023 inspection and judged safeguarding effective. The improvement priority concerned opportunities for children to explore similarities and differences between people through play.
Children can attend from three months to five years. Babies and toddlers use the main building, while the Montessori room occupies a separate unit with adjoining outdoor learning space.
The nursery combines Montessori activities with a weekly Forest School programme for outdoor learning and play. Weekly experiences also include Spanish, yoga, gymnastics, ballet and football coaching from QPR Football Club.
In August 2023, the nursery received funding for early education for children aged two, three and four.
