Independence was taught in age-appropriate ways: babies used spoons, toddlers reached their own tissues, and older children managed bathrooms and coats. Staff assessed progress and worked with parents and outside professionals; inspectors found that children with SEND made good progress.

Meals were prepared by a nursery chef at the time of the visit. Dietary needs were understood, mealtimes were supervised, and staff could explain how they would administer lifesaving medicine for severe allergies.

In January 2024, staff also gave thoughtful support around changes at home. When children gained a baby sibling, staff used stories about becoming a big sister and baby-doll care in imaginative play. This connected children's emotions with an experience they could act out and discuss.
