In May 2023, children confidently explored well-resourced indoor and outdoor areas. They ran, climbed, used ride-on toys and practised balance on climbing equipment. Walks around the cricket field and into the woods added nature discussion to that physical activity.

The Early Years Foundation Stage shapes learning through play and everyday experiences, helping children build communication, physical, personal and early literacy skills. Communication was a clear thread. Staff held purposeful conversations, modelled language and worked at children's level. Dedicated quiet areas supported concentrated communication and language work, while small key groups used a well-resourced sensory room. Creative work included mixing paint by hand; older children chose books, read in small groups and developed pencil control with chunky chalks and finer pencils.

In May 2023, mealtimes were social occasions in key groups, with staff listening carefully and helping children learn kind behaviour. Babies received sensory play, physical-development support, comfort and regular checks while sleeping.

The SENCO worked with staff, parents and external agencies to identify needs and plan targeted support. Children received one-to-one help where needed. Parents valued daily feedback and swift responses, although inspectors asked the setting to improve communication further and strengthen the consistency of the key-person role, including for babies and children new to the setting.
