For families looking back at the setting, the most recent full inspection was on 10 May 2024. Ofsted rated it Good across every graded area and found safeguarding effective. In 2024, children practised cutting, model-making, sorting and threading, hunted for bugs and made colourful potions. Staff built on discoveries as they happened: finding a snail and beetle led to a book about minibeasts. This was an active Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum, using play and conversation to develop knowledge across the statutory areas of learning.

Understanding the world was a clear strength. Children swept up autumn leaves to make compost, planted seeds, cared for vegetables and then used the produce in cooking activities. That connected seasons, growth and food through a sequence children could see and revisit, rather than treating nature as a one-off topic.

Community experiences extended beyond the setting. Trips included the library, cafe and theatre, and staff turned photographs from these outings into books. The books helped children recall events and remember friends who had moved on. The branch also described a large, secure outdoor area and generous indoor space in its retrospective account of the preschool.

Relationships were central to the May 2024 account. Staff were respectful and kind, creating a safe, inclusive and family-like atmosphere. They listened carefully, used open-ended questions and encouraged children to share news from home. Parents considered staff caring and approachable, and felt able to share information affecting their children's development.

Support for children with SEND was another positive feature. The inspection found that concerns about development were picked up promptly and specialist advice was put into practice, including guidance from speech and language therapists. Children learning English as an additional language were also reported to make good progress, helped by the setting's emphasis on communication and language.

Two practical improvements were set in May 2024. Leaders needed to help children broaden their engagement beyond familiar choices. They were also asked to review whole-group snack and story times in the pre-school room because some children found it difficult to regulate their behaviour and benefit fully. These points sat within an otherwise positive account, not evidence about practice after the setting closed.

The preschool operated from Abercorn Road, Stanmore, HA7 2PH. In May 2024 it was classed as sessional day care, with 41 places and children aged two to five attending. Its term-time morning pattern ran from 09:15 to 12:15, Monday to Friday, with funded early education for two-, three- and four-year-olds. All of these details describe the setting at that date and should not be used to plan current childcare.

Seven staff worked with children at the time, all holding relevant early-years qualifications, while the manager was a qualified teacher. This matters as context for the teaching and support observed in 2024, but it is not a current staffing statement.
