The strongest learning detail came from active, sensory experiences. Babies and toddlers made music with drums and rattles, while children moved to nursery rhymes in a sensory room and ball pond. Older children played games outdoors and in soft play.

The learning programme observed in May 2024 was ambitious and grounded in the Early Years Foundation Stage. In practical terms, that means play was used to develop communication, physical confidence, early mathematics and the personal skills children need before school. Practitioners modelled counting while hiding numbers in rice, giving children a tactile route into number recognition.

Movement was built into the day through instruments, sand, stacking resources, outdoor games and soft play. Stories and singing were regular features too, although inspectors found that adults did not always pause long enough for children to answer or extend their ideas.
