Kids World Havercroft

At a Glance

Drainpipe water channels, hopscotch and story-inspired crafts give Kids World Havercroft a practical, playful character in its July 2025 account of daily life. Children experimented, counted and worked together. These examples give parents something concrete to weigh alongside the grade.

At its 14 July 2025 inspection, Ofsted rated the nursery Good and found safeguarding effective. Based at The Library, Wakefield WF4 2BE, it accepts children aged 6 to 60 months and has 50 places in total.

The Nursery Experience

In July 2025, learning combined children's own choices with activities organised by adults. The early years foundation stage sets the requirements for learning, development and care: here, play connected counting, conversation, movement and practical exploration.

Hopscotch brought numbers together with movement; constructing water channels from drainpipes gave children a shared problem to solve. The play kitchen supported pretend everyday experiences, while Octopants prompted children to make their own underpants from craft materials. Familiar stories became starting points for making and imagining.

Babies had room to move and practise on their tummies in July 2025. Adults sang, responded to their babbling and used gestures and expressions during interactions. Older children explored size and quantity, including how adding water changed dry sand. These were hands-on ways to encounter mathematical ideas.

Care and Support

At the July 2025 inspection, Ofsted found that assessments developed with parents helped staff plan for children's progress, with leaders seeking professional help where learning gaps emerged. That connects family knowledge with decisions about additional support.

In July 2025, parents received updates about learning and suggestions for continuing it at home. Staff used calm reminders about kindness, and children practised hygiene and tidying routines, giving them responsibilities alongside their play.

Cots and blankets supported babies' naps at that time. Staff development included Cracking communication and Blooming babies, training intended to extend practitioners' knowledge; these were staff courses rather than activities sold to families.

Practical Information

The address is The Library, Wakefield WF4 2BE. In July 2025, opening hours were 7.30am to 6pm on weekdays, with provision throughout the year apart from bank holidays and a Christmas closure lasting a week.

At that time, the nursery provided funded early education for children aged two, three and four. Families should obtain current prices in the nursery's written quotation.

Things to Consider

  • Group activities and care routines. In July 2025, some group tasks did not accommodate children's differing developmental stages, and nappy changes could interrupt learning. On a visit, ask how activities and care routines are now organised.
  • Home languages. In July 2025, leaders needed to learn more about the languages children used outside nursery and incorporate that knowledge into language support. Families using more than one language have a specific point to discuss.

The Verdict

Kids World Havercroft suits families who value practical play, story-based making and communication between home and nursery. Its July 2025 examples show children learning through ordinary materials and shared problems. The Good judgement provides a useful quality benchmark, balanced by clear improvement priorities around group learning, care routines and home languages.
