A converted 19th-century chapel, a garden used for fire pit sessions and Bank Park next door give Kids Planet Warrington a clear identity: town-centre childcare with substantial time outdoors. Frequent local outings extend the setting beyond its building, while monthly library sessions bring stories and songs into the mix.
At its November 2022 inspection, Ofsted rated the nursery Outstanding, finding that children made excellent developmental progress through carefully planned experiences and an adaptable curriculum. That judgement belongs to an earlier team arrangement: the current manager took up the role in June 2024. The present outdoor offer includes completed accreditation in the group's Udeskole approach, which uses nature and outdoor exploration as learning experiences.
The nursery has 94 places in total and accepts children aged 3 to 60 months. Morning, afternoon and full-day bookings sit within a longer weekday opening window.
The early years foundation stage sets the requirements for children's learning, development and care. In everyday terms, that means education through play, conversation, movement and experiences that help children build skills across their development. It is the framework beneath the nursery's offer; Udeskole adds a named outdoor approach alongside it.
Udeskole is a group-wide, Forest School inspired approach to learning through nature, and Warrington has completed its accreditation. Its stated emphasis includes exploring plants and wildlife and engaging directly with the surrounding environment. Here, that has practical expression in a natural garden, regular sessions around a fire pit and access to Bank Park.
In November 2022, learning was closely connected to children's interests. Babies experimented with scarves and feathers, discovering how movement could affect objects nearby. Toddlers used mallets to break ice and release toys trapped inside. Those examples show the difference between simply providing materials and giving children a problem to investigate: movement, persistence and cause and effect all had a place in play.
Older children explored ingredients by mixing a chocolate drink and talking about its texture and flavour. Practitioners used questions and language modelling to develop conversation. Handling ingredients gave children something concrete to discuss.
Bank Park provides additional space for activities with a Sports Coach, nature-based learning and mindfulness sessions. The garden's fire pit sessions include learning about fire safety. These are different kinds of outdoor experience, from active movement to quieter attention, rather than one undifferentiated block of outside play.
Access to a regional minibus also enables outings beyond the town. Destinations include Dunham Massey, Castle Park and Spud Wood, alongside beach visits. Frequent trips closer to the nursery include the museum, park and library. For children, this broadens the places they encounter; for families, outings are a substantial part of the setting's character to weigh alongside its indoor provision.
Monthly visits to Warrington Library include Song and Storytime, sessions built around songs and stories. The nursery also raises funds for Warrington Youth Zone and has delivered nature-based sessions for its Half Term holiday club. These are specific community connections, with the library providing a recurring experience for nursery children.
In November 2022, community experiences included planting vegetables at a community garden, exploring forests, visiting nursing homes and taking food parcels to charities. A bakery visit grew out of children's interest in nursery rhymes. These dated examples illustrate how interests could lead into experiences beyond the nursery, with opportunities to encounter other people and unfamiliar social situations.
Famly, the group's parent app, is included in the branch's fee package and provides updates during the day. That gives parents a way to stay connected with nursery experiences while their child is attending.
In November 2022, children had close relationships with practitioners and friendships with each other. Consistent routines supported a calm atmosphere, and children helped shape nursery rules. They also voted on parts of the day's organisation. For a parent weighing the learning offer, these details matter because participation and predictable routines can sit alongside ambitious activities.
Emotional learning was tangible too. In November 2022, mirrors were used to support conversations about feelings, while practitioners helped children consider other people's emotions. Support extended to families: one example involved toddlers exchanging dummies placed on a tree for a reward and a letter. The emphasis was on a practical response to a familiar family challenge.
At the November 2022 inspection, Ofsted found effective safeguarding arrangements and strong support for children with special educational needs and/or disabilities, including prompt identification of developmental gaps, referrals and strategies tailored to children's needs. This is dated evidence of practice, rather than a guarantee about an individual child's present support.
In November 2022, children learning English as an additional language used and heard their home language during play. Practitioners worked with parents and outside professionals, and leaders maintained links with local schools. For families, the useful point is the mechanism: communication between the adults supporting a child was part of the care described at that time.
Freshly prepared food and snacks are supplied, with dietary needs catered for. Private fees include these alongside formula, wipes, nappies and sun cream; funded attendance has a separate charge structure, so the distinction matters when comparing the total package.
The address is Ebenezer Chapel, Ebenezer Place, Legh Street, Warrington, WA1 1UL. Opening hours are 7am to 7pm from Monday to Friday, across 52 weeks of the year, with bank holiday closures.
A Full Day runs from 7.30am to 6.30pm. Morning bookings run from 7.30am to 1pm, and Afternoon bookings from 1pm to 6.30pm; a Full Time pattern is also offered. These are the core booking choices, so a family needing only one part of the day has a different option from a family booking the whole day.
Early Bird covers 7am to 7.30am, while Late Bird covers 6.30pm to 7pm. Adhoc hourly care is another charging option. The early and late periods carry their own charges, which means the opening window should not be treated as the time automatically included in a Full Day booking.
Enquiries can be made by email at warrington@kidsplanetdaynurseries.co.uk or by telephone on 01925 417350. A tour request is also available through the branch's booking route.
Funded childcare is offered alongside paid attendance. For private attendance, fees include meals and snacks as well as nappies, formula, wipes and sun cream. Sports activities and Famly are also included in the branch's fee package.
On days where early years funding is applied, meals, consumables and activities are charged separately. The charge category changes with the length of funded attendance, using half-day, short-day or full-day bands. This is a material budgeting distinction: the private all-inclusive package and a day using funding do not have the same treatment of extras.
Current prices come in the nursery's written quotation. Late collection and late payment also attract charges, making the agreed collection time and payment terms part of the practical decision.
Kids Planet Warrington suits families seeking morning or afternoon sessions as well as full-day attendance, with separately charged extensions for earlier starts or later finishes. Its strongest current appeal is the combination of a town-centre base, named outdoor destinations and recurring community experiences. Bank Park, garden fire pit sessions and monthly Warrington Library visits give that appeal substance.
The November 2022 Outstanding judgement adds a substantial dated account of learning and care. The decision now rests on how the current team meets your child's needs and how the session and funded-day charges fit your budget. For families who value outdoor exploration and outings, there is much here to consider.
