The nursery works within the Early Years Foundation Stage. In parent terms, that framework connects everyday play and routines to communication, physical, personal, social and wider learning goals, rather than treating learning as formal lessons. In January 2022, leaders had a clear curriculum intent and used training and development to improve teaching. Books were available indoors and outside; older children joined familiar phrases and answered questions about stories. The result was a recognisable thread from babies attempting words during a shared game to older children responding to stories.

Outdoor choice had substance at the inspection. Babies crawled, squatted and toddled, while younger children balanced on beams and jumped onto stepping stones. Children could choose indoor or outdoor play and fetch their own water, giving movement and independence a regular place in the day. Social development was visible too: siblings cuddled in the garden and older children learned to resolve minor disagreements. That mix matters because physical confidence did not sit apart from relationships and self-help.

Relationships were a strength in January 2022. Children arrived happily, sought help when needed and had their emotional needs met well. Staff gathered information before children started and used children's interests and needs to help them settle, including children learning English as an additional language.

Parents valued daily information and their children's bonds with key persons. Staff also worked with parents and other professionals for children with special educational needs or disabilities. Ofsted asked leaders to help staff extend older children's thinking further and give children deeper opportunities to understand similarities and differences.
