Independence gives Busy Bees Moreton its clearest character: children learning to manage small tasks for themselves, cooperate on construction projects and take an interest in the community around them. At its October 2023 inspection, Ofsted rated the nursery Good overall, with Outstanding personal development, while identifying a need to make teaching build more consistently on children's existing skills.
Based at 106 Upton Road, Moreton, CH46 0SF, the nursery accepts children aged 0 to 60 months. Its appeal rests on the practical substance behind that personal-development judgement. In October 2023, younger children practised everyday hygiene, while preschool children worked together on roads and bridges. These are useful foundations for managing routines and playing alongside others.
Full-time childcare is offered, with weekday opening hours that extend into the early evening.
The early years foundation stage provides the framework for children's learning, development and care. For parents, that means education and everyday care belong together: language, physical development and growing independence form part of the nursery day.
In October 2023, stories and singing gave children opportunities to develop their vocabulary. The construction area brought a different kind of challenge, with preschool children collaborating on elaborate roads and bridges. Shared building projects gave them reasons to exchange ideas, negotiate and keep working towards something together.
Everyday routines also carried learning. In October 2023, a self-care station helped young children practise using tissues, disposing of them and washing their hands. The emphasis was on doing these things themselves and understanding their purpose. Independence was made concrete.
The educational reservation matters alongside these strengths. In October 2023, teaching sometimes departed from leaders' plans, and activities did not always follow a careful progression or match children's level of development. Younger children's mathematics was a particular example. For families, the relevant distinction is between an appealing activity and one that helps a child connect new learning with what they already understand.
In October 2023, excursions took learning beyond nursery activities. Children visited local shops and explored how technology helped people pay for purchases. Regular visits to a local care home introduced contact with another generation, while collecting food for the Harvest Festival connected a seasonal event with helping others.
Health education had a practical element too. In October 2023, visits to a local dentist introduced children to the surroundings and to looking after their teeth. Preschool children also learnt basic first aid. These experiences brought everyday services and caring for other people into children's learning, rather than leaving them as abstract topics.
In October 2023, familiar staff relationships helped children separate from parents and join their friends, and babies received support to become comfortable exploring their surroundings. This is a useful picture of settling as a relationship, rather than simply a change of timetable.
Communication also extended learning beyond the nursery. In October 2023, families received information about daily care and learning, together with ideas to use at home. That connection matters because parents can understand what their child has been practising and recognise opportunities to continue it in familiar surroundings.
At the October 2023 inspection, Ofsted found safeguarding effective and SEND support strong, with the key-person system and assessment helping staff identify needs early and work with families and external agencies. The practical value lies in that sequence: noticing a need, discussing it and coordinating support.
In October 2023, children ate meals cooked by the nursery chef and joined cooking activities, with recipe cards helping families recreate nursery dishes at home. Food therefore contributed to learning about health as well as the daily care routine.
The current leadership structure includes a Centre Director and Assistant Centre Director roles. For parents, these provide identifiable responsibilities within the management team.
Opening hours are 7.30am to 6pm, Monday to Friday. The nursery operates across the year, closing for bank holidays and Christmas Day. This makes the calendar relevant to families arranging childcare beyond school terms as well as those organising a regular working week.
Full-time childcare is an attendance option. Families can contact the Moreton nursery on 0151 677 1008 or use its contact form; new-parent enquiries also go through the central enrolments team on 0330 333 8133.
Funded childcare is offered. The Moreton enquiry form includes 30 Hours working families funding, 15 Hours universal funding for children aged 3 and 4, and 15 hours for 2-year-olds receiving support. These are separate funding routes, with eligibility determining which applies to a family.
Current prices come in the nursery's written quotation. When comparing a funded arrangement with privately paid childcare, families need to distinguish the hours covered by funding from the rest of the booking and its associated costs.
Busy Bees Moreton suits families seeking year-round, full-time childcare and those considering a funded arrangement. Its October 2023 picture is strongest in everyday independence, relationships and practical community experiences. The reservation is educational precision: enjoyable activities need a clear next step, especially for younger children. Families who value self-care and community learning have concrete reasons to consider it, with curriculum progression the most useful point to explore on a visit.
Ofsted rated it Good overall in October 2023, with Outstanding personal development. The improvement priority was to make curriculum delivery build more consistently on what children already knew and could do.
