A two-week attendance rota shapes nursery life at Orchard Fields: children using 15 funded hours attend at either end of the week, with two days one week and three the next. That pattern matters for family routines.
On Edmunds Road in Banbury, the school has PIPS provision for two-year-olds and a Nursery class for children aged three and four. The older nursery group is called Seedlings. Both age groups have the same daily start and finish times.
The nursery day begins at 8.45am and finishes promptly at 3.00pm. PIPS follows these hours too, giving families with children in both groups a common timetable.
For children aged three and four with a 30-hour funding code, attendance can cover the whole week. Those using 15 hours follow the alternating rota instead. The distinction is practical: the funded pattern changes which days a child attends, rather than providing a morning-only or afternoon-only session.
Speech and language support has an early-years role within the school team, covering assessment and individual planning. This gives communication needs a specific place in the staffing structure. PIPS staff responsibilities also include contact with parents, alongside planning, assessment and the learning environment.
Collection has a clear permission check. Parents must tell the office when somebody different will collect their child. If that person is outside the known contact list, staff keep the child at school while the office telephones a parent or carer for permission. Families should make collection changes clear before the end of the session.
Attending this nursery does not guarantee a Reception place at Orchard Fields. Families must make a separate Reception application through the normal admissions process and meet the applicable deadline. Treat choosing the nursery and applying for a school place as two separate decisions, even though the provision belongs to the same school.
Alternating days. The start-of-week PIPS pattern is Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday in one week, followed by Monday and Tuesday the next. The end-of-week pattern reverses the balance: Thursday and Friday, then Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Check which half of the rota fits your working week.
Funding eligibility. Eligible two-year-olds with a 15-hour code can attend PIPS. Universal 15-hour funding becomes available in the term after a child turns three. Nursery children with a 15-hour code attend at the start or end of the week; a 30-hour code allows attendance all week. Parents seeking extended funded hours need to apply in the preceding term.
Additional sessions can be purchased. Ask the school for current charges. A free breakfast club includes Nursery children and starts at 8.20am, with entry through the school reception.
