At a Glance

Free-flow outdoor play and a monthly visit to Holy Trinity church give Trinity All Saints nursery a character of its own. It combines play and guided learning within the school's early years unit, with opportunities to explore the school grounds alongside early language, reading and number work.

The nursery welcomes children from the term following their third birthday, initially on a part-time basis. It belongs to Trinity All Saints CofE VA Primary School in Bingley. Children from any faith background, including families with no faith, are welcome. The nursery aims to develop confidence, creativity, independence and motivation, making those personal skills part of its purpose alongside learning.

The Nursery Day

Adult-guided activities sit alongside learning through play. The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) covers seven areas: physical development, communication, personal and emotional development, mathematics, literacy, expressive arts and understanding the world. For parents, that means the day reaches beyond early reading and counting to include movement, relationships and creative exploration.

Development Matters guides the curriculum. Planning also considers how children explore, persist with activities and develop their own ideas. Staff use observations and assessments to identify next steps, adjusting themes and activities around children's interests and learning needs. A child's fascination can therefore help shape what happens next.

Phonics and maths feature daily, while themed activities bring early writing, reading and number learning into the provision areas. Outdoor access is free-flow, and learning also extends into the school grounds. Trips and visitors add further experiences beyond the usual activities. This gives children different contexts in which to explore and practise skills.

Christian life has a practical place in the programme: children attend early years worship at Holy Trinity each month. The nursery also aims to help children express feelings, listen to others and communicate positively, connecting learning with everyday relationships.

Care and Support

Settling begins before a child starts. Open days give families an opportunity to meet the setting, followed by a home visit so children can become familiar with staff. That creates an early connection between home and nursery rather than leaving introductions until the first session.

Children needing additional help, including those with SEND or English as an additional language, receive support through individual assessment and planning. Across the school, parents can raise concerns with the class teacher, who gathers information for the special educational needs coordinator (SENCO). Classroom support and progress monitoring follow the assessment of need.

For children on the SEND register, an Individual Provision Map records planned support and is shared with parents. Discussions each term give families a role in reviewing progress. The assess, plan, do and review cycle allows support to change as staff and parents develop their understanding of the child.

Moving On to Reception

Attending nursery does not guarantee a Reception place. Families must make a separate Reception application through the normal admissions process. Nursery applications are handled by the school, while Bradford Council arranges Reception admissions; the Collaborative Learning Trust is the admissions authority.

Transition support is a separate matter. For children with SEND, staff share information about needs as children change classes, and some receive an individual transition plan. Parents are invited to meet the next class teacher during the final summer term and again early in autumn, helping the receiving team understand the child's support.

Practical Information

Flexible hours allow families to arrange nursery attendance around childcare needs. Up to 30 hours of free childcare are offered, subject to eligibility. Nursery applications go through the school office, which supplies the application form.

Visits can include time in the nursery with your child; appointments are arranged through the office on 01274 564977. This offers a practical opportunity to experience the setting together before starting.

Wraparound care. Trinity Plus considers nursery children individually, with acceptance at the discretion of the headteacher and play leader. Families needing care beyond nursery sessions should take that conditional access into account when planning their week.
