Nursery at Revoe Learning Academy

Last reviewed: October 2026 · Inspection data and key information above update regularly, however, this review below is refreshed bi-annually and may not reflect recent changes. Contact the nursery directly to confirm current arrangements. If you spot anything outdated or inaccurate, please let us know.

At a Glance

New words, shared routines and a gradual start give Revoe’s nursery its character. Provision begins at age 2, within Revoe Learning Academy on Grasmere Road in Blackpool. The younger group accommodates up to 12 children per session; sessions for children aged 3 to 4 accommodate up to 30. These are session capacities, rather than a promise of an available place.

Ofsted judged the school’s early years provision Good following the inspection on 9 and 10 July 2024. That judgement covers early years within the academy, rather than a separately inspected nursery.

The Nursery Day

Language is a clear strength of the early years day. In July 2024, staff helped children extend their vocabulary, with poetry and information books among the texts introduced from early years onwards. For a young child, that means learning new words alongside encounters with different kinds of reading, rather than relying on stories alone.

Curriculum planning includes both the youngest children, aged 2, and the older nursery group, identifying what they should learn. The early years foundation stage (EYFS) experience also includes learning how to be part of a group: in July 2024, children worked together and managed classroom expectations and routines well. Those everyday habits matter alongside vocabulary, helping children participate in shared learning.

Across the academy, classrooms include spaces for quiet thinking. Learning can be adapted with visual prompts, specialist equipment and adult assistance according to a child’s needs. These arrangements give families a concrete starting point for understanding how classroom participation can be supported.

Care and Support

Settling begins before the first session. A stay-and-play session is arranged once admission forms and the online grant application are completed, with a birth certificate and grant reference number also supplied. Children then start in small groups so they can get to know their surroundings and the adults working with them. Parents are encouraged to remain and take part with their child on the first day. The introduction is deliberately gradual.

For nursery children with developmental concerns, staff assess strengths and areas needing support, then use a plan, do and review cycle alongside a tool that tracks smaller developmental steps. Parents contribute to support plans. This gives the team a way to adjust support around the child’s progress.

Communication includes Class Dojo and personalised home-school contact where needed. There is also a social opportunity for parents: Chill & Chat takes place on Wednesday afternoons, between 2 and 3 p.m., in the Family Hub on Wyre Grove beside the Early Years entrance.

Moving On to Reception

Nursery attendance does not guarantee a Reception place and does not confer an oversubscription priority. Families must make a separate application through their home local authority. For Blackpool residents, the route is the council’s Common Application Form, online or on paper; for September 2027 entry, the deadline is 14 January 2027.

Preparation for the next stage is separate from allocation. Children joining Reception are invited to summer meetings and taster sessions in June and July, giving them opportunities to become familiar with the building and routines. These activities support transition; they do not secure admission.

Practical Information

Morning nursery sessions run from 8.30am to 11.30am, with afternoon sessions from 12.20pm to 3.20pm. Morning access is through the Nursery gate. Prompt collection helps leave time for rooms to be cleaned between sessions.

Booking patterns include 15-hour morning or afternoon provision and 30 hours across Monday to Friday. There are also descriptions of 15-hour patterns combining full days with a Wednesday half day, alongside a statement that full-day care is currently unavailable. Confirm full-day availability directly with the academy before making childcare arrangements. Funded nursery education may cover 15 hours; working parents and carers may access 30 hours. Nursery interest forms can be collected from the Main Academy Office. General enquiries go to 01253 763414 or admin@revoe.svt.org.uk, and visits can be arranged by appointment.
