Schools in Blackpool

The Victorian Tower and its ornate Baroque base, rising above the three-mile promenade and North Pier, define the seaside character that distinguishes Blackpool from the rest of the Fylde peninsula on Lancashire's Irish Sea coast. The town grew rapidly from the mid-eighteenth century, when sea bathing became fashionable among Lancashire mill workers, and by 1951 its population had peaked at 147,000; around 141,000 people live in the borough today.

Marton and Marton Moss form the main inland residential belt, with Marton long regarded as one of the borough's most school-competitive corners for primary catchments. South Shore extends along the southern seafront. Bispham and Layton fill out the northern and central residential areas, with Northern services from Blackpool North reaching Preston in around thirty minutes.
