Nursery at Newhall Park Primary School

Flexible hours are the nursery's defining practical feature: children aged three and four can attend a choice of sessions, with provision extending to up to 30 hours. This is Newhall Park Primary School's own nursery on Newhall Road in Bierley, Bradford. For families combining early education with other commitments, the choice of attendance pattern matters.
Partnership with families shapes the school's stated ethos. Its motto, Succeeding Together, expresses an aim to bring children, staff and parents into a shared effort. The nursery sits within that wider school setting, alongside an early years team and school inclusion services.
In November 2021, inspectors found that nursery staff adapted learning to children's needs. At the November 2021 inspection, nursery staff knew children's needs and adjusted the curriculum accordingly, supported by the early years leader's work on assessment. The practical implication is that assessment informs what children learn next, rather than simply recording what they have already done.
Building Learning Power is a school-wide approach, intended to develop determination, resilience and perseverance. The school also emphasises practical learning and experiences. Together, these aims place importance on how children tackle learning, as well as the knowledge they acquire.
The wider school grounds accommodate gardening, nature studies and Forest Schools activities. These are concrete features of the school environment, rather than a description of the nursery's session timetable. Early years children also took part in a Christmas production in December 2025, giving them an opportunity to participate in a performance.
Early reading. In November 2021, the phonics programme spanning early years and the next school stage needed greater precision, with some lessons insufficiently focused on linking sounds to reading. This is a material qualification to the positive finding about staff understanding individual children.
The staff structure includes early years practitioners and nursery nurses. Beyond that team, the school has a SENCo, a Community and Pastoral Lead and pastoral mentors. These roles provide distinct contacts for families discussing learning needs or welfare concerns.
Newhall Park says it tailors teaching to individual needs and works with families on personalised learning. Its inclusion approach covers learning and cognition, communication, physical or sensory needs, and social and emotional wellbeing. For a parent considering nursery, that makes the child's particular needs the starting point for a support discussion.
Safeguarding concerns can be raised with the school safeguarding team by telephone. Parents making such a call are asked to identify it as a safeguarding matter so it reaches the appropriate person promptly.
Attending this nursery does not guarantee a Reception place. Families must make a separate Reception application through the normal admissions route and meet the applicable deadline. Bradford local authority allocates places at Newhall Park. Treat choosing the nursery and applying for Reception as separate decisions.
Both 15-hour places and 30-hour extended entitlement places are offered. For children whose families do not qualify for the government 30-hour entitlement, paid nursery sessions can be booked with payment in advance. Contact the school for current charges.
Nursery enquiries go to the school office on 01274 778577 or office@newhallpark.bradford.sch.uk. School visits can also be arranged through the office, giving prospective families a direct route to see the setting before deciding.
