Schools in Brighton

England's original fashionable seaside resort, Brighton grew from the fishing village of Brighthelmstone into a Regency showpiece under the patronage of the Prince Regent, who constructed the Royal Pavilion on the East Sussex coast in the early nineteenth century. The railways reached Brighton in 1841, opening the town to Victorian day-trippers and cementing its reputation as England's foremost coastal destination. Today around 140,000 people live across the city.

Kemp Town, the Victorian terrace neighbourhood to the east, is among Brighton's most sought-after districts for school catchments, while Westdene draws families competing for primary places on the quieter northern edge. Roedean has long been a school-competitive corner of Brighton, its clifftop streets particularly valued for secondary options. Montpelier and Portslade extend the residential reach westward, with Southern's Coastway service running to Portsmouth in around fifty minutes.
