A nursery within the primary academy gives Northwick Park’s provision its school setting. The school is on Third Avenue, Canvey Island, SS8 9SU.
The school aims to combine enjoyment with learning and to welcome children as individuals, recognising their different abilities and personalities. It also emphasises parents’ involvement in children’s development. For families, that sets an expectation of partnership between home and school.
Enjoyment is part of the school’s stated aim for learning. It also aims to recognise each child’s abilities and personality, making individual interests a useful starting point for parents’ discussions with staff.
For special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), the school’s support process starts with the class teacher identifying concerns and discussing them with parents. If difficulties continue, parents, the teacher and senior staff, including the special educational needs coordinator, contribute to a tailored plan which is monitored. Parents therefore have a defined role in planning support.
Persistent difficulties can lead to advice from outside professionals. These may include a speech therapist, educational psychologist, health visitor or specialist teacher. Parents can turn to the Essex Local Offer for SEND guidance. One Plan Meetings give families a chance to discuss their child’s progress with staff and the help needed in both settings.
Attending the nursery does not guarantee a Reception place. Families must make a separate Reception application through the normal admissions process and meet the applicable deadline. Treat choosing nursery and applying for Reception as two distinct decisions.
Contact the school on 01268 684 554 or email admin@northwickpark.essex.sch.uk to make an enquiry. Visits can be arranged at times that suit families, giving parents a direct opportunity to discuss their child’s needs with the school.
The school will be closed for half term from 26 to 30 October 2026. That is a school calendar date, rather than a statement about nursery session patterns.
Yes. This is Northwick Park Primary and Nursery Academy’s own nursery provision.
No. Families must apply separately for Reception through the normal admissions process by the applicable deadline.
Discuss concerns with the class teacher. If difficulties persist, the school may seek outside advice, including from a speech therapist, in consultation with parents.
Teachers discuss concerns with parents. Continuing difficulties can lead to a monitored, tailored plan and a One Plan Meeting to review progress and agree support at home and school.
Contact the school on 01268 684 554 or email admin@northwickpark.essex.sch.uk. Visit times can be arranged to suit families.
