Schools in Clacton-on-Sea

Victorian seafront terraces and the Clacton Pier, first opened in 1871, give Clacton-on-Sea its distinctive coastal identity; it is the largest settlement in Essex's Tendring District, with a population of around 53,000. The resort emerged through the 1870s, when a dedicated railway branch from Colchester brought visitors to what had been the inland village of Great Clacton, and the two settlements gradually merged into a single coastal town over the following century. Flat Essex countryside backs the town, which extends from a seafront esplanade and traditional town centre into low-lying residential wards.

Jaywick, to the southwest, is among the most sought-after pockets for primary catchments in the district. Little Clacton and Cann Hall lie further inland. Greater Anglia trains connect to Colchester in around forty minutes.
