Victorian seafront terraces and a broad sandy promenade give Cleethorpes its resort character on the south bank of the Humber estuary in North East Lincolnshire. The town sits on the Prime Meridian. From three fishing hamlets, it grew into a popular bathing destination during the nineteenth century, and around 29,000 residents make it their home today.
Humberston, the suburban quarter extending south from the town centre, draws families competing for primary places, while Cleethorpes is widely regarded as one of North East Lincolnshire's more school-competitive coastal settings. Signhills, Thrunscoe, and West Marsh fill out the residential spread inland and to the north, with Northern services from Cleethorpes station running through Grimsby to Doncaster and Sheffield in roughly ninety minutes.
